Just woke up a minute ago, I did a night shift at the hospital . A patient died this morning in our shift, it was pretty sad and it kinda makes you reflect in a way how happy it is to be alive and experience the good (and bad) things in life.

[ post may be a little bit disturbing , sorry]

The patient was quite old, I had to stand by his side for 3 hours long as he kepts on taking his oxygen off as he was irritated with the oxygen mask and tube. I felt that he didn’t want to die as he was fighting for his life. He didn’t even want to close his eyes, so I just held his hand and told him to take some rest as he’s probably to tired. The doctor had to give him something to calm him down as he was moving all the time and they felt sorry for him. He’s not for resuscitation aswell coz they couldn’t get hold of his wife who he lives with.

I was actually the one who found out that he died as I checked on him at ten to 2am (1:50) and I saw that his chest was not moving and he was pretty cold. Kinda scary at first as it was the first time I actually saw a dead person and after that I told the nurses that he’s dead so we had to phone the doctors and their family (no one answered tho). We also had to do the last offices (clean,wash and prepare him) and the porters took him to the Rose cottage after.

Sorry for the post. Just wanted to share the experience that student nurses like me goes through while developing as a health professional.. Anyways as I was just saying everyone should enjoy the good things in life while were alive as we don’t actually know where we’ll end up after death.

Hey everyone, sorry for not updating too much, I’ve been quite busy. Aniways, nothing much happened. I’m still the old boring me I’ve only got 2 weeks left of my placement and I can’t wait to finish it. I’ve got so much essays to do before going back to uni and I still have to revise for my upcoming bioscience exams in April. Argh, so much stuff to do so little time

My mom’s going to be under surgery tomorrow morning to remover her gallstones and i’m really really really sad about it Hope everything goes well

Just to clarify things, I just went to the casino with my dad and his mates to help them. I did not play any games or anything. Like what I said, their wives wouldn’t let them go on their own unless I go with them coz they might end up in a night club! (haha)

Aniways my day off from hospital today, I’m suppose to be doing this DHP essay for monday but I cant be arsed to do it. I’m gonna fail if I dont do it but I don’t have any motivation. I know what to write it’s just that I don’t know where to start. Arghh

Working in a hospital is pretty hectic. They made me do so much stuff, and the funny thing is that I’m not a nurse yet but they made me do normal obs check and made me wrote on clinical notes which i’m not allowed to unless im registered or they have been countersigned. I think I did alright tho on using those machines eventhough its my first time on a proper ward.   I felt sorry for most of the elderly tho, they are just lying there waiting for someone to help them. I hope that they get well soon.

I went to birmingham yesterday with my dad’s friend and his family. I was too bored at home so I asked them if I could come and they said yes. So we went food shopping in the indoor market and at Sing Fat, a filo-chinese store. After that they dropped me and their daughter in town to go watch Jumper. Jumper wasn’t that great , eventhough it had many special effects and stuff.

After the movie we went back to my dad’s friends house for dinner and played with the kids. At 7pm my dad, kuya mon and kuya jojo were so bored, they wanted to go to the casino. CASINO?yes, so with their blame excuses and stuff their wives wouldn’t agree unless I come with them (coz they might end up in a night club. haha ) So  I did. We had to had memberships so we signed up for it and got our cards. Kuya mon was already winning about £450.00 at that Lucky 3 poker game yet lost it in the end.

Twas a good and fun night however there were not many people in. Most of their customers are from Far eastern origins. Mostly chinese & japanese old couples who are very rich.:cool:

Starting tomorrow, I will be working at a hospital for 5 weeks for my clinical placement. Wish me luck.
